City and Islington College became the first inner London FE college to sign a local agreement with staff this week. As well as giving set weekly and annual teaching hours, the contract takes in broad funding arrangements, and recognises that a large part of the teaching will have to be done in workshops or self-learning units as well as the fact that some of the course preparation and assessments can be done off site.
