Utrecht University is to draw up guidelines to test whether a member of staff set a disputed theory properly in context. The university admitted that the lecturer in question failed to tell students that theories of intelligence put forward by J. Philippe Rushton, a Canadian psychology professor, had been heavily criticised by other academics. The lecturer has since retired. The university also promised to improve procedures for handling student complaints about course content after an independent committee found them to be inadequate.
