Glasgow University this week celebrates the bicentenary of Scotland's first confirmed meteor fall, which hit the ground in a nearby quarry. A smoking trail crashed into the ground and a party of Glasgow University professors investigating the incident found a black rock at the site. The largest piece of the meteorite is displayed in the university's Hunterian Museum.
