Government proposals to make degree-awarding powers available to private and corporate institutions on a fixed-term basis only could be open to legal challenge, the Council for Industry and Higher Education has warned. In its response to the plans, the CIHE says companies such as Microsoft could take the Government to international court on the grounds of "unjustified discrimination".
