An international conference on the food factory of tomorrow, organised by SIK (Swedish Institute for Food and Biotechnology) and France's Laval Mayenne Technopole, will take place in Laval, France from 6 to 8 October.
The conference will provide a platform to present the state of the art in knowledge and ongoing work from academic research laboratories and industrial research and development (R&D) centres, covering the following four topics:
- Designing and building an hygienic food factory, including hygienic design of food industry equipment, design and building materials, and fluid systems, air and water quality;
- Improving cleaning and disinfection techniques, such as physical technologies (lasers, ultrasounds, ultraviolet light, chemical and biological methods and antibiofilm materials;
- Controlling microbial ecosystems, products of bioadhesion, biofilms, microbial stress, antibiotic resistance, mutagenesis, barrier effects, positive biofilms and controlled microbial ecology;
- Measuring and controlling microbial flora, information management, including online sensors, sampling methods and biological analysis (for example: traditional, innovative, rapid), and information management and traceability.
