Pamela Gillies, pro vice-chancellor of Nottingham University, will become the new principal of Glasgow Caledonian University in March, succeeding Ian Johnston. Professor Gillies said: "Glasgow Caledonian has considerable research potential. My experience in one of the UK's strongest research universities will help us grow."
Professor Gillies, a public health specialist, said that Glasgow Caledonian had a range of research strengths, including health, psychology and biosciences, and had the largest business school in Scotland.
