University of Central Missouri

The University of Central Missouri (UCM) is a public state university for undergraduate and graduate students.
More than 90 per cent of graduates reported that they found employment within six weeks of leaving UCM.
UCM was founded in 1871 in Warrensburg, Missouri. It has grown from a teaching school with a few dozen students to a university of over 12,000 students from across the United States and around the globe.
Some 150 programmes are on offer at UCM, including bachelor’s, master’s, pre-professional programmes and education specialist degrees.
UCM’s academic divisions are the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies, College of Education, College of Health, Science and Technology and the Honors College.
Student life at UCM is full and varied, with 200 student organisations, 22 fraternities and sororities, 58 intramural sports and nine club sports on offer. Student athletes are known as the Mules or the Jennies, depending on if they are male or female. They compete in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in basketball, football, volleyball and wrestling, among other sports.
The Warrensburg campus is 1,561 acres in size and lies 50 miles southeast of Kansas City. The campus features its own bowling alley and movie theatre, with regular free movie nights.
Over 140 years the campus has developed several unique traditions. Each September students dress in the university colours, red and black, and take part in an enormous street festival celebrating the first football game of the season, in a tradition known as Get the Red Out.
