关于 University of Washington-Tacoma
Founded in 1990, UW Tacoma is a four year institution part of the University of Washington complex. The city itself is 32 miles southwest of Seattle, and is a waterfront location with a general aviation facility, Tacoma Narrows airport.
In addition to a interdisciplinary liberal arts programme, UW Tacoma has academic departments in the fields of Education, Technology, Professional Development, Business, and Social Work. Part of general education requirements for undergraduates is the Core Programme, which limits to a 25 student class size and teaches in critical thinking, writing, and engagement with social issues. Urban Studies at the university offers both a BA degree and master’s in Community Planning and Geospatial Technologies.
UW Tacoma offers a wide range of study abroad opportunities, and previous students have been part of exchange programmes in locations such as Argentina, France, and taken internships in sustainability in Costa Rica. The Study Abroad department also teaches a Peace Corps preparation programme, and in collaboration with School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences teaches a Global Impact Programme with projects in Peru, Vietnam, and Morocco.
Established in 1969, the MEDEX programme is dedicated to training medical professionals to serve rural and resource underfunded areas of the UW School of Medicine catchment area, offering a Physician Assistant learning course at UW Tacoma.
Accommodation on campus come with live-in Residential Assistants, and has nearby public transport routes and easy access to Tacoma’s clubs, parks, and restaurants. Events and communication are managed through the DawgDen site, and students can take parts in events such as the Husky Challenge, which involves thirty days activities for the chance at winning thirty prizes.
