关于 Quinnipiac University
Quinnipiac University is located in Hamden in Connecticut, which sits at the foot of Sleeping Giant State Park – a rugged trap rock mountain.
The university was formed by professor and businessman Samuel W. Tator in 1929 in reaction to the Great Depression. With the opening of its doors, it enrolled just 200 students.
It is in fact made up of three separate campuses. The Mount Carmel and York Hill campuses are in Hamden and the North Haven Campus is in North Haven.
Notably, York Hill is a green campus, which means that it makes use of renewable energy and environmentally friendly resources, including a major wind farm integrated into a university campus to fuel its buildings.
The university offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees throughout a variety of its colleges, which are: College of Arts and Sciences, School of Business and Engineering, School of Communications, School of Health Sciences, School of Law, School of Medicine, School of Nursing and School of Education.
There are more than 100 student organisations across the different campuses, which include: The A Cappella Group, Anime Club, Women In Support of Humanity, Hiking Club, and Freestyle Session.
There are also events throughout the year, which include pageants, comedy shows, film series and group trips to New York City and Boston.
Athletic teams - known as the Quinnipiac Bobcats – play in NCAA Division I in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Varsity teams include: basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, ice hockey, field hockey, softball and soccer.
Notable alumni include Turk Wendell, a former Major League Baseball right-handed relief pitcher who played on four National League teams, Bill Euille, a former mayor of Alexandria, Virginia, and Molly Qerim, an American sports anchor and moderator for ESPN's First Take.
