Burapha University

Burapha University’s history dates back to 1955 with the establishment of Bangsaen College of Education. In 1974 the college became Srinakharinwirot University Bangsaen Campus. Then in 1990 it was renamed Burapha University and in 2008 it gained autonomous university status.

The university is located in Saen Suk, a coastal town in Chonburi Province, eastern Thailand. Just 81 kilometres from Bangkok, Chonburi is home to the largest tourist-oriented city in Thailand known as Pattaya. The Province is known for its picturesque beaches and sea views. It also boasts a number of cultural landmarks including Khao Chi Chan (Buddha Mountain) and Wat Tham Nimit (Buddhist Temple).

The university operates over three campuses. The main one is the Chonburi Campus, established in 1955 and located in Mueang District in Chonburi Province. In 1996 the Chanthaburi Campus was opened in the Ta-Mai District of Chanthaburi Province. Sakaeo Campus was founded in 1997 and is situated in Wattana Nakorn District in Sa Kaeo Province.

There is a range of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses available at the university. With 22 faculties, one college and one school there are plenty of options for students. These faculties include humanities and social sciences, marine technology, and music and performing arts.

The Research and Innovation Management is a division of the university committed to carrying out high quality research. Its aim is to develop academic and scientific knowledge then it can then disseminate to public and private sectors, as well as the local community in order to bring about societal changes.
