Tories target science

The Conservative Party has set up a task force on science, technology, engineering and mathematics as a key part of its Economic Competitiveness Policy Review Group established by party leader David Cameron. Ian Taylor MP, chair of the group, said that in the past the party had failed to take science and technology sufficiently into account in policy formation.

The task force will produce an interim report by the end of the year that will recommend the action an incoming Conservative government should take to maximise the contribution of these subjects to UK economic competitiveness.
