关于 Pablo de Olavide University
Pablo de Olavide University, or Universidad Pablo de Olavide (UPO) to give it its Spanish name, is a public university situated in the Andalusian capital of Seville, Spain. Founded in 1997, the university is one of the newest universities in Spain. It takes its name from the Spanish-Peruvian politician, writer and lawyer who was instrumental in the city planning of Seville in the latter half of the eighteenth century.
The campus at UPO spans 346 acres across the municipalities of Alcala de Guadaira, Dos Hermanos, and Seville. As a younger university, it has modern facilities including centres dedicated to video, audio, TV and computers, as well as science labs, library and its own university sports service (SDUPO). The design of the campus incorporates a North American style and UPO also boasts The International Centre which manages programmes for study abroad students from North America. It was established in 2002.
The university is split into seven schools or faculties: the faculty of experimental sciences; the faculty of business; the faculty of sport; the faculty of humanities; the faculty of social sciences; the faculty of law; the polytechnic school; and the postgraduate studies centre. It offers a broad range of degrees, including double degrees, master's degrees and doctorate degrees.
Pablo de Olavide University describes itself as "at the service of society" and defines itself as "a place of reflection and critical thinking committed to contributing to progress" and teaching has a strong emphasis on equality, fundamental liberties and rights, human values and solidarity.
