Sheffield Hallam University can boast some of the most honest students. Sarah Akers, an 18-year-old psychology undergraduate, was sent half a dozen letters from the Inland Revenue urging her to claim a £1,000 refund in benefits. She was even more disturbed that the authorities also sent her full financial details of the other Sarah Akers, including her bank account, sort code and her PAYE and National Insurance numbers. The student, with the help of local newspaper The Star , tracked down the real Sarah Akers, who turned out to be a single mother working in one of the university's restaurants.
