COVENTRY
Malcolm McIntosh, director of Coventry University's Applied Research Centre in Human Security, believes the only way to create lasting world peace is to protect people's basic needs and rights.
"It's about building cohesive communities, so there's no necessity for people to indulge in terrorist activity," he said.
Professor McIntosh is planning to hold a conference in October at the Eden Project in Cornwall. He said: "The greatest threat to human security is climate change. I want to bust silos of disciplines so a nuclear physicist talks to a town planner because this is a transdisciplinary field."
