New cancer chief

Cancer Research UK has appointed world-leading cancer researcher Sir David Lane FRS its first chief scientist. Professor Lane discovered p53, a protein that plays a central role in preventing cancer. He currently leads Singapore's Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology.
