关于 Hasanuddin University
Hasanuddin University is a large, autonomous public higher education institution in Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
Established in 1956, the university takes its name from Sultan Hasanuddin, a 17th century former ruler of what was then the Gowa Kingdom.
The university is science-focused, specialising in maritime-based development in particular, but a range of subjects are offered at undergraduate and graduate level. Undergraduate degree subjects are organised across 14 faculties which include law, business, forestry, dentistry, cultural development and public health.
Master’s degree programmes at Hasanuddin University are equally as extensive and include a varied list of subjects from linguistics to naval engineering.
About 37,000 students are enrolled at Hasanuddin University, including a small number of international students. Admissions are selective, based on entrance exam scores and pupils’ past grades.
Hasanuddin’s main Tamalanrea campus occupies an area of 220 hectares and is home to the 14 main undergraduate faculties and postgraduate research. Its facilities include on-site accommodation, an extensive library and sports fields.
The university has two additional, smaller campuses – Baraya Campus in central Makassar, and the Gowa Engineering Campus, to the south-east of Makassar, where the university’s main engineering programmes are based.
The coastal city of Makassar is around an 8km drive from the main campus and home to shopping malls, restaurants and museums, as well as the famous Losari beach. From here, visitors can reach nearby tropical islands and a theme park.
Among the university’s notable alumni are a number of influential politicians, including Jusuf Kalla, vice president of Indonesia until 2019.
