A musical work created by a De Montfort University academic, based on his parents' romance in war-torn Italy in 1944, has won international acclaim. John Young, reader in music technology at DMU Leicester, has won first prize in the Programme Music category of the world's most significant competition for electroacoustic music composition, organised by the Institut International de Musique Electroacoustique de Bourges in France. The winning work, Ricordiamo Forlì , was created at DMU during research leave funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
