World University Rankings 2020 by subject: psychology

The 2020 Times Higher Education World University Rankings table for psychology subjects uses the same trusted and rigorous performance indicators as the overall World University Rankings, but the metric weightings have been recalibrated to suit the individual fields.

The 13 performance indicators assess several areas of psychology, including educational, sport, business, animal and clinical psychology.

The ranking includes 494 universities, up from 463 last year.

Once again, Stanford University leads the ranking, while Princeton University climbs one place to take the second spot and the University of Pennsylvania rises two places to third.

The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor and Canada’s University of British Columbia both join the top 10 this year in eighth and 10th place respectively, while the London School of Economics and Political Science and Duke University fall out of this elite group.

New York University is the biggest riser in the top 20, climbing 11 places to 11th. The University of Amsterdam is another strong performer, ranking 14th, up from joint 20th last year.

The National University of Singapore ranks as the highest Asian institution, climbing seven places to 45th, while a further eight institutions in the continent feature in the top 100.
