An academic is hoping to win a place in history as one of the world's fastest motorcyclists. University of Essex sports psychologist Murray Griffin will try to break the land speed record in August. Dr Griffin, 51, will travel to the US to compete in the annual Bonneville Speed Week in Utah. To break the current record, he will need to reach average speeds of 215mph over two attempts. Dr Griffin said: "Having spent years researching sportspeople and what motivates them, this is my chance to experience that motivation first hand."
