Thousands of letters written by the poet Philip Larkin have been deposited at the University of Hull's archives by his niece. The letters, sent to his mother and close relations, have never been seen by anyone outside the poet's family. Philip Larkin was the librarian at Hull for the last 30 years of his life, and almost all the celebrated poems in his two final volumes, The Whitsun Weddings and High Windows, were written there. The university hosts the largest Larkin archive in the country.
