A charitable donation will fund a new initiative on the economic, political and legal dimensions of governance for development in Africa. The School of Oriental and African Studies has received £1.4 million from the Mo Ibrahim Foundation, an African initiative established to stimulate debate on good governance across sub-Saharan Africa and elsewhere. The project will be called Governance for Development in Africa. Paul Webley, director of Soas, said: "This gift will have a tremendous impact, not only for Soas, but for the future of Africa."
