Plans to invest £80 million in science, medicine and engineering over the next three years have been announced by the University of Exeter. The money - £30 million from existing university funds and £50 million anticipated from external sources - will be spent on new appointments and infrastructure to boost research and teaching, Exeter said. The university will focus the investment on five broad themes: climate change, systems biology, extrasolar planets, "smart" materials including nanomaterials and translational medicine.
