Cows from organic farms produce better quality milk than those from conventional farms, a Newcastle University study indicates. The research found that milk provided by cows fed an organic diet had more beneficial fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins. The study, carried out on 25 farms in the North East and Wales, found that the improved milk quality was attributable to the cows being extensively reared outdoors and eating fresh grass and clover.
