Providing access to quality education for the public during Covid-19

Western Caspian University since its foundation, has considered the implementation of a successful internationalization strategy one of its primary objectives. Execution of double degree diplomas, hosting international conferences, and organization of student/faculty exchange programs with various universities abroad contributed to the development process of the university. As part of its social responsibility university always involved the public in its activities. In this regard, free certification courses, masterclasses, and short-term courses were jointly delivered with international partners for the public.

Despite the ongoing restrictions related to Covid-19, the university continues to provide the public with access to quality education. It organizes regular webinars for them with its international partners on trending topics and issues. In the last few weeks, 4 such webinars were hosted.

1. On the 30th of June, Western Caspian University hosted a webinar on "German Tourism after the Coronavirus" delivered by Volker Adams, Head of the Foreign Travel Department of the German Travel Association. During the webinar, the difficulties and challenges posed by the global pandemic for German tourism were discussed. 2. On the 14th of July a webinar on "Seasonable social media to jumpstart your business" for students, faculty, and public by Dr. Werner Krings, a professor at Framingham State University in the United States, was organized by the Western Caspian University. The webinar analyzed the role of social media in the development of modern business, as well as discussed how to effectively use social media for those who are new to the business. 3. On the 23rd of July, the Western Caspian University in collaboration with Akkon University of Applied Sciences for Human Science organized a webinar on the topic of Covid-19. Roland Gohde, Chairman of the Board of German Health Association delivered the welcoming greetings. Later on, Professor Timo Ulrichs presented gave a presentation on Covid-19. Timo Ulrichs is a Head of Studies on International Disaster Relief at the Akkon University for Human Sciences, Berlin, Germany. During the webinar Professor Ulrichs talked about the effects of Covid-19 on the health system. He mentioned how the Covid-19 disrupted the health industry in Germany and the EU. 4. On the 30th of July, a webinar on "Game Theory" by Florian Rupp, a professor at the Bundeswehr University in Munich, Germany, was organized by the Western Caspian University. Professor Rupp explained how Game theory is applied in the strategic decision-making process. Zero-sum game and a prisoner's dilemma were explained using real-life situations. Moreover, Professor Rupp explained the Game theory using historical events such as the Cuban Missile Crisis as an example. (https://wcu.edu.az/en/events/alman-professorun-vebinari-olacaq)
