Aberystwyth and Cambridge universities - Robot ferments fresh findings

A robot scientist created at Aberystwyth University and the University of Cambridge may be the first machine to have independently discovered new scientific knowledge. The robot, which is called Adam, is a computer system that fully automates the scientific process. It has already discovered simple but new scientific knowledge about the genomics of baker's yeast - findings that have been published in the journal Science. Adam's creators confirmed the robot's hypothesis with manual experiments. The team hopes that its next robot, which is called Eve, could help to find new drugs for diseases such as malaria.
