Academics at Swansea Metropolitan University are developing the world's first underwater system for monitoring coastal erosion. Until now, the data used to understand this phenomenon have largely been obtained by observations and measurements of exposed coastal areas, such as beaches and cliffs. To assess what is happening beneath the waves, academics from Swansea Met's School of Built and Natural Environment and School of Applied Computing have teamed up with two companies, Wireless Fibre Systems and Valeport, to work on the £611,000 project funded by the Technology Strategy Board.
