Staff at the University of Bristol swapped the office for the farmyard last week to take part in a renovation project. About 40 staff from Bristol's academic registry spent the day landscaping pathways, erecting fences and building secure areas for the animals to help refresh the garden and grounds at the Lawrence Weston Community Farm. Bristol was the first university in the country to bring in a staff-volunteering day, which allows one day's paid leave per year for each of the university's 5,300 staff members.
