A Portuguese university is using a UK institution's graduate-medicine scheme as a model for its own courses. In 2000, St George's, University of London was the first university in the UK to introduce a graduate-entry programme allowing students to study medicine after completing any other degree. Since then, other British institutions have followed suit, and now the University of the Algarve's graduate-entry medical school will open next month. St George's has provided Algarve with course materials, expertise and training.
