Researchers have called on the Scottish Government and industry leaders to invest more in carbon capture and storage technology. Scientists at the University of Edinburgh claim that the UK could lead the market in capturing and storing carbon dioxide and that there is enough storage capacity beneath the North Sea to collect 100 years' worth of CO2 from half of Europe's power plants. But they warned that a tenfold increase in funding for the technology is needed to meet the Government's tough carbon-reduction targets.
