Researchers at the University of York have calculated carbon-footprint data for individual neighbourhoods in the city and have found that areas in which the community apparently has a strong "green attitude" also have high carbon emissions. The findings are part of a 15-month campaign funded by the Without Walls Partnership Local Area Agreement Delivery Fund. They will be used to target selected households in York and help them reduce their carbon footprint by 10 per cent in 2010 by reducing energy use and promoting walking and cycling.
