A department that created a device to ease a painful multiple sclerosis symptom and a knowledge-transfer "champion" have won awards for Coventry University. Coventry won two of the four categories at the Lord Stafford Awards for the West Midlands, which showcase links between universities and the private sector. Its Health Design and Technology Institute won in the Entrepreneurial Spirit Category for developing a device designed to ease the tightening of the thigh muscles, a common symptom of MS. Brian More, the university's intellectual property business-development manager, won in the Knowledge Transfer Champion category after helping more than 350 firms to access the university's research and development capabilities.
