A global university

UOW has a strong international focus and reputation, with close to 6000 international students studying across its Australian campuses each year. UOW Dubai has been in operation for more than 20 years. In 2015 UOW became the first ever overseas-based university to enter Hong Kong when it was selected to take custodianship of the Community College of City University Hong Kong (CCCU) and transform CCCU into an international campus.

On the horizon

The University of Wollongong's planned Health and Wellbeing Precinct, covering 7.5 hectares of the Innovation Campus, will include Australia's first primary and community health clinic to offer truly integrated, patient-centred healthcare, as well as aged-care and retirement living facilities, and research and teaching programs. Construction is planned to commence in 2020, with the first facilities operational by 2022.

The new Molecular Horizons building currently under construction on the Wollongong Campus and due for completion in 2019, will provide scientists with world-leading technologies to help undercover ways of detecting and attacking disease. With these technologies, there is potential for researchers to create personalised medicine to treat cancer and reverse Alzheimer’s disease.

A new landmark development for the Wollongong campus, will provide state-of-the-art facilities including student performance theatres and rehearsal spaces along with film, media arts, digital design and music studios for students studying The Arts, English and Media (TAEM) in the Faculty of Law, Humanities and the Arts and the School of Health and Society (HAS) and the School of Geography and Sustainable Communities (SGSC) from the Faculty of Social Science.

The University of Southampton is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in gravitational-wave astronomy. The successful candidate will join Greg Ashton’s STFC-funded programme, Advancing Gravitational-Wave Astronomy Using Artificial Intelligence, to work on computational Bayesian inference methods and their astrophysical applications.  Southampton's School of Mathematical Sciences is home to a large research group in gravitational physics, comprising 9 staff members, over 15 postdoctoral researchers, and approximately 15 PhD students. Research in the group includes black-hole and neutron-star physics, gravitational-wave source modelling and data analysis, gravitational self-force modelling and numerical relativity. The group is involved in the LIGO Scientific Collaboration, the LISA Consortium, the Einstein Telescope collaboration and the Cosmic Explorer consortium.  Candidates should demonstrate a track record of research in gravitational-wave astronomy. The applicant will have, or be about to obtain, a relevant PhD degree in physics or mathematics.  This is a full-time post, available from the 5th of January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is funded for two years with the possibility of a 1-year extension. Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon successful completion of the PhD. Clinical Research Fellow in the Department of Psychological Medicine

About us The School of Academic Psychiatry brings together five leading clinical departments Addictions, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Forensic and Neurodevelopmental Science, Psychological Medicine, and Psychosis Studies. Our community includes more than 100 Principal Investigators and a vibrant research portfolio supported by £30–40 million in active grants. Across the School, our work spans the full breadth of psychiatry—from public policy to molecular genetics, from perinatal mental health to old age, and from psychological therapies to advanced brain imaging. This role will be based in the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHBA), Department of Psychological Medicine. The Centre aims to advance the development of biomarkers for neurocognitive disorders and to create innovative approaches for the early diagnosis of cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s disease, and ageing-related psychiatric conditions. As a centre of excellence for clinical trials, we support the development of novel therapeutic strategies and technologies while improving patient access to both established and emerging treatments.  About the role The Clinical Research Fellow will play a key role in the delivery of high-quality clinical research within the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing. Working as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, the postholder will support the planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical studies while ensuring strict adherence to trial protocols, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements. A core component of the role will be to work with retrospective data from participants living with dementia and prospectively collected data from ongoing participants for research and analysis purposes, with research supported by the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The successful candidate will also be contributing weekly to the Brain Health Clinic at SLaM under the supervision of Prof Dag Aarsland, providing compassionate and clinically sound support to participants, many of whom have memory difficulties or dementia. The Fellow will conduct cognitive and study-specific assessments, maintain accurate participant records, and ensure timely collection and processing of biological samples in line with SOPs and GCP. The role requires excellent communication skills, with responsibility for maintaining effective relationships with participants, families, clinicians, researchers, and external partners. The Clinical Research Fellow will contribute to data entry, cleaning, analysis, and the preparation of reports and research outputs, as well as participating in clinical and research supervision. This position offers opportunities for professional development, active engagement in service improvement, and involvement in the dissemination of research through presentations, publications, and collaboration across academic and NHS teams. This is a full-time post (40 hours per week). The post will be offered on a fixed term contract until 31st January 2027. The Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Helsinki, invites applications for the position of UNIVERSITY TEACHER IN MOLECULAR AND INTEGRATIVE BIOSCIENCES (ESPECIALLY NEUROBIOLOGY) This fixed position from 1.8.2026 (or as agreed) – 31.5.2030 is based in the Department of Molecular and Integrative Biosciences, which is one of the three Departments in the Faculty and located on the Viikki Campus. Tasks Teaching and teaching-related tasks account for the majority (70-90%)of the annual working time. The primary focus will be on contributing to the curriculum of the Master’s Programme in Neuroscience — an international, multilingual programme that attracts both national and international students. In addition, the selected candidate will be involved in bachelor level teaching and teaching-related tasks. Teaching responsibilities will include fundamental topics in neurobiology from molecular and cellular to systems level, as well as quantitative analysis methods and examples of modern approaches in fundamental research. The university teacher selected for the position will be the responsible teacher on selected courses, teach on courses coordinated by other teachers and to assist professors and university lecturers with course preparation and management. Key duties also include student guidance, bachelor’s and master’s thesis supervision and evaluation as well as participation in collaboration with the faculty’s degree programmes. The candidate is encouraged to integrate into Department’s research activities. The Faculty supports high quality epidemiological studies and complex clinical trials in nursing, midwifery, palliative care, rehabilitation, technologies, and health services research. You will contribute to new grant applications and advise on studies to completion and publication, including supervision of junior statisticians. You will also contribute to teaching, provide PhD and MSc supervision and contribute to improving statistical skills across the Faculty. You will be associated with the UKCRC-registered King’s Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), working to their quality management system. The King’s CTU has world-leading statistical and trial delivery expertise and provides randomisation services and other management system support. You will be involved in grant applications to a variety of funding streams such as those offered by the National Institute for Health and Care Research and the Medical Research Council (MRC), including pilot/feasibility to definitive trials and fellowships that typically involve trials or epidemiology using big data.
