Parents can rest easy - the thumping music coming from their children's bedrooms does not impede their ability to study, research at the Institute of Education, University of London has found. From their survey of 600 young people in the US, Greece, Japan and the UK, researchers found that "most young people seem to know when music is interfering with their studying and will press the 'off' button if they need to concentrate". However, parents be warned: those surveyed "agreed that they would not turn the music off just because someone asked them to", the study notes.
