A new academy school in Salisbury is to be co-sponsored by a university. The Sarum Academy, which is to open later this year following the closure of Salisbury High School, will be co-sponsored by Bath Spa University. Bath Spa follows in the footsteps of several other universities in getting involved with an academy. Frank Morgan, its vice-chancellor, said the partnership was an important part of the university's regional strategy. "Sponsorship of the academy will give us strong links with the Salisbury education diocese, and the academy will be a centre for our teacher education with the 200 diocesan schools in Wiltshire and Dorset," he said. Sarum will be a Church of England Academy, specialising in mathematics and the arts.
