The Chartered Society of Designers has launched the first degree-accreditation programme in its 80-year history. The University of Derby's architectural venue design degree is the first course to be endorsed by the society. The programme will vet courses offering bachelor's degrees with honours or higher in the UK, or their equivalents elsewhere. Chris Ramsden, president of the society, said accreditation would help design students "in the transition from learning to earning".
