Graduates have helped to design and manufacture rides and amusements for a historic pier that was ravaged by fire two years ago. Former students of the University of the West of England's product design course worked with a specialist company, Gravitron, to refit the Grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare with attractions. Among the rides that have benefited from their input are a go-kart track with an electric floor and a fun house featuring a giant hamster wheel, as well as more traditional attractions including a helter-skelter, a ghost train and dodgems.
