Development and validation of a prediction model for risk of complications in early onset pre-eclampsia (PREP)

Pre-eclampsia is a pregnancy disorder characterised by raised blood pressure and abnormal levels of protein in urine. In 1 per cent of cases it occurs before 34 weeks of pregnancy. This is called early onset pre-eclampsia and the only current cure is premature delivery. This presents the sufferer with a terrible dilemma: have an early delivery that risks her baby's life, or continue with the pregnancy and threaten her own. The study aims to develop a model to predict the risk of complications to mother and fetus. The team will check its predictive performance via two external anonymised datasets.
