Expulsion legal battle

六月 21, 1996

A former student union vice president was due to appear in the High Court this week seeking a judicial review of South Bank University's decision to expel him.

Six other former union executive members who were removed from South Bank are also talking to lawyers with a view to possible legal proceedings.

Aniere Ebuzoeme was due to appear yesterday requesting that the court quash the university's March 29 decision to expel him amid allegations of financial and procedural impropriety.

Mr Ebuzoeme, who was taking a law conversion course, claims that he was not given a proper hearing at the university and wants a rerun of the disciplinary procedure.

Mr Ebuzoeme is also due to appear at Crown Court shortly to stand trial on a charge of affray. He is pleading not guilty.
