Cleo Lab funds e-learning research

五月 18, 2001

The Open University and Carnegie Mellon University will be funded for e-learning research projects by the Customised Learning Experience Online Lab.

The lab is a one-year research collaboration between corporations interested in e-learning, academic researchers and the US Defense Department's advanced distributed learning initiative.

The venture is run by the IEEE Industry Standards and Technology Organisation and funded by Cisco Systems, Click2learn, IBM Mindspan Solutions, Microsoft and NETg. It aims to foster a new generation of powerful, personal and interactive learning technology.

Claude Ostyn, Click2learn's senior learning systems strategist, said the Cleo Lab project was possibly the most important research ever undertaken by the e-learning industry. The venture is expected to devise a common process and language for combining learning content into rich learning experiences that can be delivered on virtually any standards-compliant learning management platform.
