Founded in 1904, the Gdansk University of Technology is one of the oldest universities in Poland. Established in the port of Gdansk, one of the country’s largest and most important cities, GUT is a large university with a key focus on scientific education and research.

The university’s main campus contains a mix of old and newer-build facilities, and the bulk of the university’s academic and recreational facilities can be found here. Some of these facilities include the Mathematics and Distance Learning Centre, 25 laboratories dedicated to the study of nanotechnology, and housing blocks capable of supporting thousands of students.

 As well as this, the university also has its own Academic Sports Centre, which provides a number of facilities such as gyms, swimming pools, tennis courts, football pitches, and a volleyball court.

Students studying at GUT also have easy access to the city of Gdansk, a large metropolitan area with a long and rich history. As a major industrial area with population of around half a million people, Gdansk offers plenty of modern trappings for students looking to socialise and relax between study periods.

In terms of academia, the university’s primary focus is on scientific subjects, and as such GUT offers a wide variety of science-related degree courses, especially in engineering. The university is also noteworthy for offering a number of courses unique to itself, such as degrees in nanotechnology and construction chemistry.

In addition to this, many courses are available to be taught in English as well as Polish, and additional support for prospective international students is also offered.

GUT also maintains a focus on research and development, allowing students to make their own contributions to their fields of study.

Some famous alumni of GUT include the Polish economist Michał Kalecki, and the German physicist Abraham Esau.

As an Associate Lecturer, you will assist in the academic and administrative, consultative and coordination tasks involved with these courses. Veterinary Anatomic Pathologist (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer)

We are seeking an enthusiastic anatomic pathologist to join a team of three faculty and one resident in our £11m purpose-built state-of-the-art Veterinary Pathology Centre. This on site role will enhance our 100 strong team of teaching and research staff in the University of Surrey School of Veterinary Medicine. The Veterinary Pathology Centre was built seven years ago and contains both a CL2 (containment level 2) post-mortem area with viewing gallery, and a CL3 post-mortem area. Private diagnostic post-mortems, and APHA (Animal Plant Health Agency) surveillance post-mortems are undertaken at the site.  The role The role will include undertaking diagnostic service, including biopsy and post-mortems, teaching final year (year 5) students on intramural rotations (IMR) post-mortem skills, and participating in lecturing, practical classes, and assessment of year 1-4 undergraduates. Supervision and participation in the residency programme is also expected, and you may be asked to provide CPD activities to external partners from time to time.  This is a permanent post subject to satisfactory performance and is based on site in Guildford. There would be opportunities for individuals to develop their career through research or other aspects as preferred. About you Successful candidates must have a veterinary degree that is registerable with the RCVS, have experience in surveillance and post-mortem services, and be interested in teaching and supervising students in the veterinary pathology aspects of our curriculum. To be successful in this role, you will have excellent communication skills, an appetite for innovative teaching, strong organisational skills and will enjoy working in a team. You will have an interest in broadening your veterinary profile through the development and delivery of undergraduate teaching in veterinary pathology and you will be supported in achieving this by participation in our inhouse, externally accredited Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education. In addition to completing this qualification, for those interested in developing further skills in education, study at Masters level (part-time) may also be supported (financially and in time allocation). About the Role We are seeking five Researchers to join an exciting collaborative project in partnership with Toyota Manufacturing UK (TMUK), a leading global industry partner. This role combines applied research with practical development, focusing on innovative solutions that address real-world challenges. This project will support the development of a new, lightweight battery electric vehicle (BEV) at TMUK’s Burnaston site. The vehicle will meet the rising demand for eco-friendly micro-mobility, with features including a solar roof, advanced connectivity, and sustainable materials, ensuring end of recovery and recycling. It supports the UK's move to zero-emission transport, boosts the supply chain, and secures jobs at TMUK. By developing a ready-to-produce design, the project opens new market opportunities and positions the UK as a leader in sustainable urban mobility and advanced automotive manufacturing. The Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC) has funded this £30.3 million project through the UK Government’s DRIVE35 Collaborate programme and aims to meet the evolving needs of urban populations while accelerating the shift to zero tailpipe emission transport by validating a novel, lightweight BEV in the L6e category. The University of Derby will play a critical role in the project, leading on real-world testing and analysis, and leveraging its expertise in micromobility user behaviour and solar energy viability. Together, the consortium partners are studying how to shape a smarter and more sustainable future for urban mobility across Europe. Acting as a ‘living lab,’ the University will evaluate how the BEV fits evolving patterns of sustainable urban mobility and assess its potential to transform city transport. As micromobility becomes central to the future of urban transport, this study marks a vital step towards understanding and meeting the evolving mobility needs of city populations while accelerating the shift towards reduced congestion emissions and enhanced urban accessibility. The research aligns with the University of Derby’s flagship Derby Urban Sustainable Transport Transition (DUST) project, focused on enhancing the city’s green spaces and promoting low-carbon mobility. By applying innovations in data-centric engineering and market demand opportunities, along with user engagement and experience, we will explore how novel technologies will be adopted and accepted such that micromobility reaches the most appropriate users and locations, maximising accessibility and effectiveness. The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences is seeking to appoint a motivated individual to join the Medical Programme Professional Service Team. The post holder will work closely with the Senior Administrative Officer and Medical Programme Manager to support them in delivering assessment and progression processes and for the School of Medicine’s Graduate Medicine programme. The role This role will focus on managing and implementing processes in relation to all aspects of student assessment and ensuring accurate records and data are managed and in line with University and GMC regulations. The postholder is expected to build a knowledge of the systems and processes involved in order to meet expectations for recording and tracking student progress. About you The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate strong technical and IT skills with a focus on reporting data and supporting the development of bespoke systems aimed at monitoring and recording student data. They should be a proactive individual, competent in the use of IT with an attitude open to change and working independently. The ability to work to a high level of accuracy is also essential. The role will require excellent interpersonal and organisational ability demonstrating adaptability and flexibility with regards to changing workloads and priorities. The role will involve working with a range of staff across the School of Medicine and wider university and to adapt and support a number of professional administrative activities involved in the BMBS Graduate Medicine programme.
