Kochi University of Technology is a public university founded in 1997. The university is located in the beautiful city of Tosa Yamada, Kohimarama in Japan.

Popularly known as the KUT, the university offers a wide range of academic programmes to both international and domestic students. Programmes range from economics to system engineering among many others covering science and technology. It is a research-oriented university, which hosts a substantial number of students and scholars from across the world.

Kochi University of Technology is a renowned research institution in the region and comprises of several research centres like the Advanced Robotics Research Centre, Centre of Nanotechnology, Research Centre for Brain Communication, Materials Design Centre and Laboratory for Construction Materials in a Sustainable Society. In view of realising its mission of becoming a top-class research university, Kochi University of Technology has established partnerships with top universities including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, Indian Institute Technology, Bandung Institute of Technology and Jilin University. The university has also been offering grants to students to pursue research projects in various fields.

Kochi University of Technology boasts of two beautiful campuses: The Kami Campus and the Elkokuji Campus. The campuses include all sorts of amenities for students like the student union building, gymnasium, cafeteria, regional alliances building, parks and playgrounds. KUT also offers a wide range of students’ clubs ranging from tennis and basketball clubs to the mah-jong and space lab clubs. As a University of Applied Learning, SIT works closely with industry in our research pursuits. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. This project focuses on federated causal inference in heterogeneous data environments, addressing the challenge of enabling trustworthy causal analysis across distributed datasets while preserving privacy. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end investigation of novel federated learning strategies for causal inference. The role will bridge rigorous theoretical work with hands-on algorithm design and development on real-world datasets. The core responsibility is to build and validate federated causal inference algorithms through simulations and live demonstrations. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI) to ensure all project deliverables are met. Derivation of novel performance metrics for federated causal inference algorithms. Analysis of causal inference models in federated settings using synthetic and real-world datasets. Design and development of novel federated causal inference algorithms and associated software APIs. Validation of algorithms via simulations and live demonstrations. Job Requirements A Master's degree or higher in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or equivalent. Strong theoretical background in statistics and machine learning. Knowledge of the basics of federated learning and causal inference is highly encouraged. Proven track record in research and development of machine learning algorithms. Proficiency in algorithm development using Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. Key Competencies Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Able to build and maintain strong working relationships with people within and external to the university. Self-directed learner who believes in continuous learning and development. Proficient in technical writing and presentation. Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

The Assistant Lecturer should possess a Master degree in Social Sciences or a related discipline. He/she will assist the Curriculum Coordinator in coordinating program activities, conducting organizational analysis, and assessing training needs. The role also involves liaising with stakeholders, assisting in the delivery of training and coaching activities (which may include taking up part of the teaching duties), collecting and analyzing feedback from training and consultation sessions to inform ongoing improvements, and supporting implementation of the program. He/she may also contribute to the development of curriculum and teaching materials, evaluation efforts, etc. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will come with a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
