The Tokyo University of Technology (TUT) is a private university in Tokyo, Japan, which has been chartered as a university since 1986. It traces its roots back to a predecessor founded in 1947, called Soubi Gakuen.
TUT educates students to become engineers and information and communications technology (ICT) experts.
When it opened, it was a single-faculty college with only a School of Engineering. Today, it has five faculties with two campuses in Tokyo, in Hachioji and Kamata.

The Graduate School includes four programmes: bionics, computer science, media science and entrepreneurship.
The school emblem, created in 1997 for the school’s 50th anniversary, represents both the laboratory building and three Es, which are the initial letters of three keywords that represent the three philosophies of the school: electronics, entertainment and ecology.
Tokyo University of Technology has established exchange programmes with Carnegie Mellon University, the Communication University of China, the Berlin University of Technology, and the University of Perpignan.
