The State University of Maringá is a public institution in the south of Brazil. A non-profit university founded in 1969, SUM consistently ranks well among similar institutions in the country, and has previously made the top 15 in Brazil’s Science Citation Index.
A relatively small institution in the prosperous southern state of Paraná, it is located in Maringá, a medium-sized city in the north-west of the state which is an agricultural centre that has been home to a prominent Japanese community for much of its history since it was founded in 1947.
Crossed by the Tropic of Capricorn, Maringá is 300km north west of Paraguay, and slightly further from the border with Argentina.
SUM has seven campuses in total, though most academic activity takes place in the Maringá Campus. The campus in Cianorte, 80km west of Maringá, runs accounting sciences, design, fashion and pedagogy courses.
Students at the Umuarama campus, 125km east of the border with Paraguay, can learn civil engineering, environmental engineering, food engineering, food technology, civil construction technology, environmental technology, agronomy and veterinary medicine.
Ivaiporã’s, 225km south east of Maringá, covers history and physical education. The Goioerê Campus, just over 150km south east of Maringa, runs production engineering, physics and textile engineering courses. The Arenito Campus in Cidade Gaúcha, 125km west, teaches agricultural engineering. The other campus is in Diamante de Norte, 150km north west and just shy of the River Paranapanema, which acts as the border between Paraná and the state of São Paulo.
The university also now offers a range of distance learning courses as part of the Open University System of Brazil.

POSITION OVERVIEW Department: Advanced Semiconductor Research Centre Position: Research Fellow Location: Suzhou, China Contract Type: Fixed-term, one term for 2 years ABOUT XJTLU In 2006 Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) was created by the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong University – a top ten university in China. Offering a unique international education experience, XJTLU brings together excellent research practice and expertise from both institutions and gives students the skills and knowledge they need to secure careers in a global marketplace. XJTLU now has over 25,000 enrolled students in both Suzhou and Liverpool in the UK,including more than 5,000 master’s and doctoral candidates. ABOUT XJTLU Advanced Semiconductor Research Center The XJTLU Advanced Semiconductor Research Center is jointly established by Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) and the National Third-Generation Semiconductor Technology Innovation Centre (Suzhou). It focuses on advancing third-generation semiconductor power electronics and serves as a university-level research platform that spans campuses and schools. The research center is dedicated to wide-bandgap semiconductor power electronics and integrated technologies, aiming to look ahead, develop distinctive capabilities, and serve both industry and society. Driven by industry needs, the research center collaborates with the China Advanced Semiconductor Industry Innovation Alliance (Beijing, CASA) to promote talent cultivation through the integration of advanced semiconductor production and education. Leveraging the strengths of XJTLU’s Sino-foreign cooperative education model, the center fosters collaboration among industries, universities, and research institutions at both domestic and international levels. RESPONSIBILITIES Conduct research: Design and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, and interpret results to advance the understanding of related research areas. Dietitians provide medical nutrition therapy and implement specific diet strategies for chronic medical conditions, illnesses, or injuries (Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association). Nursing: Registered nurses render health services to individuals, families, and communities (Singapore Nursing Board Code for Nurses and Midwives 2018). Speech and Language Therapy: Speech and Language Therapy involves assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of communication and swallowing disorders (Allied Health Professions Act 2011). Occupational Therapy: Occupational therapy involves assessment and interventions to work or school, self-care, leisure or play, physical environments as well as cognitive, mental and physical components of function to enable individuals affected by physical injury or illness, developmental or learning disabilities, psychosocial dysfunctions or the aging process, to engage in everyday life occupations in order to maximise independent performance of life roles, prevent disability and maintain health (Allied Health Professions Act 2011). Physiotherapy: Physiotherapy involves assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of pain, injury, or any other physical dysfunction, through the use of education, exercise, manual therapy, electro-physical agents, technology or any other treatment for those purposes (Allied Health Professions Act 2011).
