关于 Université 8 Mai 1945 Guelma

Guelma is the capital city of the Guelma Province in the north-east of Algeria,40 miles inland from the Mediterranean coast. It was one of the centres of the colonial era massacre, widely regarded as the starting point of the Algerian Independence movement, from whose date the university takes its name.

Université 8 Mai 1945 Guelma was founded as a national institute in 1986, it became a University Centre in 1992 and achieved full university status in 2001 with three faculties.

Under the motto "Integrity, Knowledge, Creativity", it offers students "quality training based on the pursuit of excellence and truth, and particularly in the sense of a work ethic that will serve as a foundation for the success of their career".

In 2018, it enrolled just over 16,000 students, around three-quarters of them undergraduates, in seven faculties – science and technology, maths and computer and materials science, natural and life sciences, economics, business and management science, law and political science, arts and languages, and humanities and social science – spread across campuses in Guelma, Souidani and Heliopolis.

Recent developments include the conclusion of 17 cooperative agreements - including eight with European universities - in the 2018/9 academic year and the setting up in 2019 of a university incubator, one of 12 planned in Algeria. Web visibility was declared an institutional priority in 2019.
