关于 University of Zanjan
The University of Zanjan is a public university based in the ancient city of Zanjan, Iran.
In 1975, the Forestry Organization dedicated land in the capital of the Zanjan Province to agricultural education, and the Zanjan Higher School for Agriculture & Animal Science was established. It began awarding higher level qualifications and became Zanjan Agriculture & Animal Science College in 1976. Its Faculty of Engineering was founded a year later, beginning with civil engineering and later expanding to include electrical engineering, mining engineering, metallurgical engineering and other programs. The college became a higher education institution 1987.
In 1990, the College of Sciences was established to begin teaching chemistry, and in 1991, the College of Humanities opened to students to teach Persian language and literature. The Ministry of Culture and Higher Education awarded the institution university status, and it became the University of Zanjan.
The university today is among the largest in Iran, with more than 10,000 students. It offers Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees across its four faculties, in subjects varying from artificial intelligence to theology.
Zanjan is a university for both teaching and research, and is home to the Zanjan Technology Incubator for Innovations. Its International Scientific Cooperation Department promotes international activities, and is responsible for coordinating collaborations with businesses and universities in Iran and beyond, for instance, by facilitating visa applications for foreign visitors.
The University of Zanjan’s facilities include an extensive library, 26 laboratories and workshops, the Museum of Natural History of the University of Zanjan – a local attraction – and an optical observatory dome unique in Iran.
