A price on their heads

The latest issue of Glasgow University's alumnus magazine, Avenue, which goes to 70,000 alumni worldwide, features an article by Guardian journalist and Glasgow graduate Ewen MacAskill on his 16 fellow graduates who are MPs. The article is illustrated by mugshots provided by the respective parties of the said MPs, eight Labour, four Conservatives, two Liberal Democrats and two Scottish Nationalists. Only one party demanded payment for the photographs, at the princely rate of Pounds 10 a head. Glasgow is now Pounds 80 poorer.
