Alumnus to be proud of No 172 has won plaudits for intelligence and creativity as an England rugby player. Greenwood's ability to restrain himself when angered may or may not have been acquired via an education exactly replicating that of the player whose place he inherited - Will Carling - graduating from Durham University after public schooling at Sedburgh.
Not a good week for Durham sportsmen - disappointed England cricket captaincy claimant Nasser Hussain also spent his student days there.
