Students who were injured and relatives of those who died in the Tiananmen Square crackdown in June 1989, when tanks and troops ended democracy movement demonstrations, have asked the Chinese government for an investigation and compensation.
Twenty petitioners have appealed for justice for "one of the most brutal peacetime massacres" of the 20th century.
