* The post-16 education and training sector needs a new, single, national funding agency, education secretary David Blunkett has said. Speaking about ministers' fundamental review of lifelong learning, Mr Blunkett confirmed reports in The THES that the agency would "pull together all the various strands and the funding", including the budgets of the Further Education Funding Council and the Training and Enterprise Councils. But he hinted that there were interdepartmental disagreements about the future of school sixth forms.
