A foundation degree in fire investigation is to be offered by Teesside University, in partnership with the County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service. Under the agreement, the university will provide accreditation for the service's existing training, with the first cohort of ten officers due to enrol in the two-year degree next month. The curriculum will cover all the skills required for fire investigation, including evidence-gathering and excavation, fire-scene examinations and courtroom skills.
